Hello, everyone. This is EnderPreston, the creator of SoniCraft. As some of you know, SoniCraft's upcoming 1.5 Island of Chaos update is going to be for Minecraft Forge 1.18. However, I'm sorry to say that's this next release is not going to be the SoniCraft you once knew.
You see, SoniCraft is being developed in this Minecraft modding software known as MCreator. For the longest time, I've had no problems with it, but then MCreator was ported to Minecraft 1.18. I figured this was a good thing since people were wanting to see SoniCraft ported to 1.18. What I didn't know, however, was that Mojang, the creators of Minecraft, changed how biomes generate in 1.18 as part of the game's Caves and Cliffs Update. Unfortunately, MCreator was also affected by this change.
In addition to biomes generating underwater in custom dimensions (which I was able to sneak my way around for SoniCraft's 1.18 beta release), some biomes just refused to generate at all. After further research, I found out that I wasn't the only one experiencing this problem.

This was actually very helpful, because some of the issues addressed on that page perfectly matched the descriptions of the issues that I was dealing with. This sense of relief didn't last long, though, because the problems STILL kept happening, but each time it happened, and each time I tweaked the code, it would always be different biomes refusing to spawn.
"Why are you using MCreator then? Just fix the code yourself or work on it outside of MCreator!"
It's not as simple as that, I'm afraid, and if I ever told you I was good at coding in Java... well, I lied. I know very little about Java, and everything I DO know comes from inspecting other Minecraft mods. That's why I use MCreator. I want to make Sonic-loving Minecraft players happy without having to go through years of training. I also wanted to push MCreator to its limits, show off its true capabilities, and put the often-hated software in a good light.
With all of that being said, the adventure and exploration aspect of SoniCraft will be rather broken from version 1.5 onwards, at least until MCreator manages to handle the biome generation a little better. This update will also be the last time I ever add another biome to the mod, at least until further notice. I'm sorry it has to be this way, but there's not much I can do about it right now.
This is NOT the end of SoniCraft, though. There's still plenty more to be excited about. Even with updates for the main mod slowing down, I plan on making more addons for the mod. I may even port SoniCraft Plus to 1.18 if there's high enough demand. Aside from that addon, though, I'm also working on two other addons, SoniCraft CD and SoniCraft Demons. The latter is set to release this Halloween, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Again, I apologize for all of the inconvenience. I really hope you're all still excited for the Island of Chaos Update, and I look forward to seeing the kind of maps and stuff you guys make with all of the new blocks in the update!
Sincerely, EnderPreston
